3 Layers of Intervention

The Whole School Intervention aproach (WSI) conceptualises literacy and numeracy intervention within 3 layers.
Layer 1: WSI action at the intervention points of curriculum design, pedagogical practices and quality assessment that is responsive to patterns of underachievement in school data.

Layer 2: Targeted group interventions for particular cohorts who have not responded to the layer 1 intervention. Layer 2 interventions are designed to assist identified students in meeting age cohort expectations.

Layer 3: Intensive interventions (usually involving specialists) for students who have not responded to layers 1 and 2 interventions in meeting age cohort expectations.

Hello world!

Welcome to supportteachersunite, or in English – Support Teachers Unite. I am a Learning Support Teacher in Australia and have created this blog as a way to

a) alleviate my frustrations.

b) seek advice, help, assistance   and

c) offer advice, help and assistance

So, feel free to enter anything here you feel a need to write. Lets get a really good blog flowing around this globe.

I have taken a leaf from http://whatedsaid.wordpress.com and am creating my own personal learning network (PLN), connecting with other teachers/learners to learn about other people, other schools, other cultures. To connect with them online and demonstrate to my students what its like to be a learner.

So. . .  let the blogs begin
